Ty Ty

Oh, what a cutie. We love Ty!

He seems to suck on different fingers every day. Maybe each one has a different flavor. We'll see which one is his favorite!

Again?!?

I documented this to laugh at ONE DAY. But it doesn't make me laugh too much now. :) Who knew being a parent would mean cleaning up so many messes? Thanks Mom and Dad for cleaning up my messes. I guess what goes around comes around.

Morning Glory

Ok - a little story. Once upon a time I was young and being home schooled. We would some times try to grow seeds. But in my memory, I don't remember anything really growing beyond the first set or two of leaves. Looking back, now I know the reasons why (mainly poor lighting) but the failed attempts made me think, "I can't grow anything." It sounds silly but we all make certain final statements about ourselves when we're young and cling to them. Well - this year I started Morning Glories by seed. I really didn't believe they'd turn out because of my bad experience in the past. But they've transplanted well into the garden and are thriving like mad - as well as climbing up any plant they can get their little tendrils on. You'll laugh at me, but it feels like I have busted through a negative belief about myself and am free. Now it's your turn. What do you think you can't do because of an early failed attempt? Try it again!

Little fish

Brit's nature is hesitant and shy at first, but given time he'll attempt more daring feats. Here he's floating all by himself. He's definitely learned how to say, "No, Brit!" which sounds like "No, Dit" and means "No, let me do it by myself". It's good that he's learning to be independent and many times it's funny, but I have to say it does get frustrating and makes everything take longer :) Like, if I buckle him in the car seat - "No, Dit!" and he'll want to undo it and do it himself. Another example - when we put him to bed at night, if his lamp is already on when he comes into the room, he whines "No, Dit!" and will turn the lamp off and on again to feel like he did it. Oh man... I guess we all need to go through this stage, but sometimes it wears me down!

Prayer time

This is how Britton folds his arms - or shall we say hands - for prayer. I don't know where he learned to do it like this since we fold our arms. We started with 'fold your arms' and in the last month we've added 'close your eyes' and in the last week we've added 'bow your head'. It's so cute... he'll keep his eyes closed for the whole prayer and will say 'Amen' at the end. I admit, I've had to open my eyes just to watch him keep his closed... it's like I'm a little kid again. At bedtime, he'll do all three while kneeling. The funniest part is, I usually praise him so much about it, that the times I don't, he'll make sure I recognize (with his gestures) that he folded his hands AND bowed his head AND closed his eyes. It makes me laugh.

UFO's

So about two weeks ago we had a really big storm. We were in bed but it was so windy, I got up and checked on my garden plants through the window- nervous they were being blown away. They seemed fine and so I glanced into the backyard. "Is that a puddle of water in the middle of the lawn? Hey,wait - - -Don't we have a trampoline? Where is it?!" Lo and behold, the trampoline was no where to be seen during the flashes of lightening. I had to tell Landon... I went into the bedroom, "Landon, I can't find our trampoline. It must have blown away!" We looked out the windows and still couldn't see it. Did it break someone's fence or window? Did it cross the street and go towards the elementary school? What ended up happening was that it rolled one house down and TURNED THE CORNER inbetween the two houses. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? On the way, it broke a sump pump pipe off one house and bashed into the corner of another house, damaging the siding on the corner and a downspout gutter -- which ironically had JUST been installed a few days previous. The LUCKY part was that it ended up in our neighbors front walkway and luckily they didn't park their newly purchased car there, which they usually do. In the end, we were extremely happy that it hadn't caused more damage. It could have broken a basement window and flooded it. Being the handy man Landon has become, he fixed and upgraded the neighbor's sump pump pipe (which is what the neighbor wanted to do anyways, so that was nice) and we're working on tracking down the company who sided the other neighbor's house five years ago to color match it. Whew! Brit saw the trampoline and surprisingly didn't cry about it. I told him that they wind blew it and broke it and Dad's going to fix it. He'll tell me throughout the day, "Bounce, Dad, Fix it" and make a wind noise :)

Fireplace

The fireplace is done! Landon did an awesome job on it - I must say that I am quite impressed. Now, the only thing remaining is puttying the nail holes in the wood throughout the basement and we can say that the basement is officially done! And we're working on painting the speakers...

Ty's getting so big

Ty's getting so smiley and 'talkative'. It's so fun! This is probably the best smile picture I have of him to date.

Also - he rolls over now! It's hard to believe because he's only 2 1/2 months old and the average for rolling over is 4 months. He rolled over a week or so ago but I just thought it was a fluke. Now he's got it down and it's hard to keep him on his back for diaper changes. I guess he wants to catch up to his brother fast so they can play together. Ty's growing up so much faster than it seemed to go with Brit.
